WHEN DOES IT END?

When does it end?

Life.

When does the flame of a human soul die out?

Is it when the heart stops beating and we're buried south?

Is it when the heart is weighed down by the weight of life

When the heart is broken, stabbed through by a person's knife?

When does it end?

Will I break or will I bend?

Is it when our hope runs dry and with faith there's a drought?

Is it when we stop believing and growing and are full of doubt?

When does it end?

We have been given free will

And He has given us from now until...

We are to live because through us He gives life

So why cut His life short just because we go through strife

But pain and sorrow are as real as they are often

And the less our hearts our safe, the less it softens

So we give into a numbness that feels safe

Not knowing that ignoring feeling causes chafe

When does it end?

My knowledge I will lend

To everyone who cares to listen

Who cares to learn a little lesson

It ends when we decide to stop

It ends when our grip on hope drops

It ends when we're too tired to try

When we are too scared to ask why
